Summer Internships are UNPAID, require academic credit and structured to last approximately 10 weeks. Course Credit is available. Resume, Cover Letter and a College Reference is required. Students should have a strong academic record (3.0 strongly preferred) and good character. Students must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. students must still be enrolled in school during the time of the internship). All NY Interns are required to receive academic credit for Summer internships. This is verified with a letter written by an academic advisor. Note to International Students: All international students will be required to provide documentation of proper visa paperwork prior to your arrival if accepted to the program. Only J1 or F1 visas will be accepted. Due to the high volume of candidates for Turner’s Internship Program, interested students are encouraged to apply by May 20, 2009 to be considered for openings. Future semester Internship postings will be available after the current semester deadline.

The ideal candidate for Booking & Show’s Intern should be outgoing and have a pleasant demeanor. It is essential that qualified candidates are well-mannered, well-groomed, well-organized, detail-oriented, energetic, enthusiastic, flexible, and have excellent phone manners and interpersonal skills.

Show interns specifically may have the opportunity to learn and observe a number of functions within the department such as the preparation for daily, live broadcast. Interns will also be able to gain knowledge of organizational tasks associated with show production such as the distribution of scripts and rundowns, and understanding of how a host’s daily notebook of show elements is organized. In addition the intern will gain a broad knowledge of what administrative tasks go into show development and production.

Booking Intern students may have the opportunity to learn and observe a number of functions within the department such as research on upcoming cases, identifying principles and potential guests, and daily guest rundown preparation. Interns will also have an opportunity to interact with anchors and guests as greeters and propose suggestions for guest questions.

Computer Skills required: MS office suite, iNews, Lexis-Nexis, Internet
