Reporting directly to the Director of Information Technology Latin America, the IT Director for Latin America Emerging Markets will play a key role on the Latin America Information Technology (LA-IT) team, as well as the senior business leadership team within LA Emerging Markets. Baxters primary global IT mission is to create and drive business value throughout Baxter worldwide. He or she will be a key relationship manager bridging LA Emerging Markets and regional IT. A key emphasis will be on understanding local and regional requirements, prioritization through partnering, and delivering high value solutions in a cost-effective manner. This individual will lead the Emerging Markets IT Steering Committee, which ensures emphasis on both prioritization and support of Latin America projects (local & regional) and corporate IT initiatives, and connects to the Regional IT Governing Board. This individual will also be accountable for ensuring that the regional IT support teams deliver systems, processes and procedures that support business strategies and meet all local regulatory requirements. He or she will ensure that IT solutions are proactively implemented, adopted and supported to address and resolve business opportunities. In addition, he or she will be a member of the Latin America IT Leadership team.
The IT Director for Emerging Markets will be responsible for ensuring that the application portfolio and infrastructure environment that supports the Emerging Markets sub-region are operating according to agreed upon service levels., Continuous feedback and validation of these service levels are accomplished by working with peers leading software development, production support, and shared services. The company is currently operating in an IBM AS400 environment running a series of legacy versions of JD Edwards (JDE). Projects are currently underway to standardize operational practices and upgrade the environment to JDE 8.12. He or she will be an active member of the Latin America regional team that includes peers in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico..
The IT Director for Emerging Markets will be primarily measured on his or her ability to influence growth and productivity having an impact to Latin America Emerging Markets bottom line. It will be essential to build relationships with peers in other business functions and Managing Directors within Emerging Markets. He or she will be the Emerging Markets conduit to the regional IT organization, while championing the sub-regions needs and ensuring that globalization of Baxters IT initiatives is in the best interest of the emerging markets countries, the Latin America region, and the company.
Major Responsibilities
Implement the global IT vision and strategy in Emerging Markets and concurrently develop the EM-specific IT strategy in support of the Baxter Latin America vision and growth strategy.
Ensure the Latin America IT delivery/support teams are delivering service and support, including standards and policies for the sub-region.
Understand business operations and anticipate requirements, creating partnerships to ensure the development and delivery of value propositions and services that meet or exceed functional/business requirements.
Partner effectively with business partners and focus on enabling business processes with tools and technology to improve operational excellence and support growth.
Ensure strong partnerships and measurements with third-party suppliers and vendors.
Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports, ensuring strong organizational capability. Provide role model recruitment, retention, succession and career management practices.
Represent and advocate for the priorities of Emerging Markets within the Latin America IT Leadership team.
Budget accountability and responsibility.
Ensure compliance to regulatory and quality standards across the portfolio (e.g. SOX, systems validation).
Maintain external connection with emerging trends and best practices.
Develop strong collaborative relationships within IT and with business partners, including senior levels to understand long-term business strategies.
