Please Note: Internships are UNPAID and structured to last approximately 12 weeks. Program dates are 02/01/2010 – 04/23/2010. Course Credit is available. Resume and Cover Letter are required. Students should have a strong academic record (3.0 strongly preferred) and good character. Students must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN SCHOOL DURING THE TIME OF THIS INTERNSHIP). Students seeking college credit are strongly encouraged to apply. Note to International Students: All international students will be required to provide documentation of proper visa paperwork prior to your arrival if accepted to the program. Only J1 or F1 visas will be accepted. Deadline to apply for Spring Internships is December 11th 2009. Due to the high volume of candidates for Turner’s Internship Program, interested students are encouraged to apply for openings as soon as possible, as these positions will be filled on an ongoing basis. Future semester Internship postings will be available after the current semester deadline.

Department: The CNN News Group is the foremost newsgathering and information organization in the world. In addition to CNN, the news networks include CNN USA, CNN Headline News, CNN International, CNN en Español, and The Atlanta Bureau. Live shot and satellite communication coordination with all of CNN’s International Bureaus. The International Desk handles newsgathering of all video and information from outside the United States.

Internship Description: Students may have the opportunity to learn and observe a number of functions within the department, such international bureau functions, train on getting story assignments, and learn how to determine which events are newsworthy. Other opportunities include learning about satellite feeds and how to set up on-air phone interviews with newsmakers. Interns will be trained how to book both anchors and guests for international stories for CNN.

Required Qualifications/Skills: Need to be highly motivated and organized. Must be interested in the production side of the news.
