Job Responsibilities:
- Design and prepare engineering package for local system personnel to help complete the physical installations, maintenance, and configuration of CMTS network devices in Comcast Head Ends and OTNs
- Prepare various types of project plan documentation including SMOPs, NCPs, RFOs, BOMs, etc
- Document network changes in various commercial software packages including Visio, Excel, Metasolve, Clarify and Remedy
- Provide daily updates and project status to the appropriate project manager or supervisor in written or verbal fashion as required
- Work under the direction of Engineering Department Management and receive prior written (or email) Engineering Department approval for any work/decisions that could effect the operations of the business.
Specific examples are: (But not limited to) LMC (Local Management Center) SMR (System Maintenance Request) ticketing process / NE&TO (National Engineering & Technology Organization) Maintenance Requests (MR's) - National Assistance / Other similar tasks, as determined by management
- Prepare various reports including capacity management reports, stock requests for local systems, and timesheets
- Off hours support for system maintenance activities is required
- On call availability on a rotating schedule is required
- Other duties as assigned
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance
Required Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates degree or better in a technical track. Previous applicable work experience in a similar role may be considered as a substitute for the formal education requirement. Cisco CCNA, Arris CMTS SME training would be a plus
- Proven prior experience deploying and maintaining network hardware of all types including but not limited to CMTS's, routers, switches, servers and network transport equipment, including DWDM, is required.
- Familiar with TCP/IP networking protocols and infrastructure design
- A background in RF network support, either in an outside plant or Head End, would be a plus.
- Proven analytical, problem solving and organizational ability
- Excellent oral/written communication and inter-personal skills
- Ability to work overtime, as needed
