Major Duties:
- Provide configurations, design and operational support for all IP networks within the NJ Region including the CRAN and the back office networks
- Serve as the technical liaison between various engineering teams within the NJ Region, the Eastern Division Engineering, the LMC, and various external organizations including NE&TO
- Define operational and support requirements for new network related technologies and products
- Support new technology and product rollouts to the production environment through configuration development, deployment support, testing, and support procedures validation
- Troubleshoot complex network related problems escalated from various sources including the NJ LMC, other technical groups within the NJ Region and the Eastern Division
- Function as network engineering SME for the NJ Region
- Analyze chronic network related problems. Perform root cause analysis. Recommend and implement solutions
- Analyze various related technical procedures and make process improvement recommendations
- Participation in an on-call rotation
- Off hours support is expected
- Limited travel may be required
- Other duties as assigned


Required Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Cisco certification(s) required. Substantial, applicable work experience in an applicable position may be accepted in lieu of Cisco certification requirements
- Demonstrable, practical knowledge of Internet routing protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, SNMP, RIP, CIDR, etc
- Experience with various data transmission formats including Frame Relay, SONET, Ethernet, etc
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Routers and Switches
- Experience with network security devices and techniques including firewalls, access list configuration, and network traffic analyzers
- Familiarity with UNIX and LINUX operating systems and scripting tools
- Familiarity with DHCP, DNS, and IP address management tools
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a team or individual contributor role
- Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
